Final design For Front Cover

Final Design For Front Cover.

Evaulation

This is my front cover I've designed, I think it went well. I like The colours I've used as they are colourful and bold. I think also my image turned out well.

A few things I could of improved include having more text on the front, even though i did want the front cover to be simple and not to busy. I think it's a bit to plain, if I knew what was going in the magazine i would of been able to include more text on the front.

Even though I did change my flat plan I ended up changing it back as the sub-titles stood out better, when they were on the right. I had changed them to go on the left, but this was before I had chosen the colours. Once I had chosen colours I decided to go back to my original design on my flat plan.

Overall I'm really pleased about my front cover and it turned out how i had hoped.

Evaulation:

This is my final design for my Contents page. Overall, I like it I wouldn't make any changes to it as it turned out exactly how I had planned. I like that I've used the same colours and font for my contents page. I like that it's quite simple as it doesn't need much information apart from article titles and page numbers.

Contents Page

Designing The Contents

This is my first screen shot for my contents page. I've chosen the same font and colours as my front cover title. I've chosen for it to go down the right hand side instead of the top as it makes it look different and more interresting.

Now, I've added a text box where the article titles will go. I don't know what my articles are called yet so I've just put contents and then wrote the page number. I've chosen to do a purple border to go with the colour theme. I have also chosen a green text colour.

This is my final screen shot for designing my contents page. where the purple box is this is where a picture will go.

Fonts

I'm now trying out some different fonts to see which font i will use for my titles and sub headings.

This is the first font i've tried its Broadway 36. I like it because its bold and quite decorative. Also as its a college magazine i think it works for the audience that i'm aiming for.

For my second font I've chosen Bradley Hand ITC, I like it because it's Script and looks like handwriting which makes it personal. I don't think I will use it as it isn't that bold.

For my third font i have chosen this. i don't like this one as i think it is boring and doesn't stand out.

I've chosen to use the first font for my titles as its bold, and I've chosen to use the second font for my sub-headings as its quite funky and eye catching.

Colours

I've got to pick some colours to use for the text on the front cover, i want something thats stands out but has to blend in. Also i want a unisex colour as this magazine is aimed for males and females.

1.

I chose a light blue and lilac for this title, i like it as it stands out but is not to in your face. It blends together nicely. Also as this is a college magazine I'v taking 2 of the colours from the college logo so the college magazine can represent to the college.

2.

This is my second title, I've chosen a green and a lilac as green is also one of the colours from the college logo. I think i prefer this one to number 1, As i think the colours are nicer anmd blend better. I think there still can be something done to it to make it look better on my front cover. I'm going to try different fill effects and see if this can improve my title.

3.

Here, I've used the same colours but have changed to fill effect. I prefer this one as it looks better on the front of the magazine and i think more eye catching, I'm going to use these colours and this sort of fill effect.

Now that i have chosen my colours, I'm going to play around with the text and chose the right font and sizing for the titles and article titles.

Front Cover

Designing the Front Cover.

Now I've chosen what picture i want to use, i can start designing my front cover.

This is my first screen print for designing my front cover. I've chosen to have the picture slightly off centre so writing doesn't interrupt the subject.

This is my second screen shot, with the picture and title of magazine I haven't deciding on colours i should use yet as i'm just concerntrating on the layout. The title is big enough without interupting the picture.

This is my final screen shot, I've included an issue number, and article titles. Also with the article titles i haven't chosen colours yet. I like this layout even though it's not the same as my flat plan, Im going to use this as the layout for my front cover. Things i need to do with the front cover are to chose the right colours, and also i might include some more text as its quite plain, but i have to be careful as i don't want the front cover to be to busy.

Flat Plans.

Flat Plans For Magazine.
Flat Plan for Front Cover.

For my Front cover I've decided to have the picture as the background. Then to have title of magazine at the top, for my magazine i've decided to call it 'Students Own' as its a college magazine for the students. I'm going to have some of the article titles on the front on the right hand side, I'l pick the best article titles to go on the front cover, as the front cover is the most inportant thing, as if the front doesn't look interresting then people won't be interrested in reading it.

.

Flat Plan For Contents Page.

I've Chosen to have the contents title down the side, as it means it will be different from the front cover. It will make page look more interrsting.

I will have the list of contents on the left, with all the article titles. with page numbers.
